ENDOWMENTS
Since 1957, several noted artists and friends of
the arts have made significant bequests to CAAF
and the visual arts community. The Calgary
Foundation manages these funds and uses the
annual interest generated by the funds to
support the visual arts locally in various ways
according to the stated intent of the
donors. Currently the main uses for this money
are the support of the st[art] artists
residency program and purchases of artworks for
The City of Calgary Civic Art Collection.
The Calgary Allied Arts Foundation is the
beneficiary of Endowment Funds of more than a
quarter million dollars. This legacy has been
made possible through the generosity of many
Calgarians, including H.B. Hill (1957), Wes
Irwin (1978), Douglas Motter (1994), Jim and
Marion Nicoll (1986). These Calgarians were
practicing artists.
A NEW FUND
CAAF is pleased to announce that it has
established a Designated Endowment Fund called
the Calgary Allied Arts Foundation Civic Art
Collection Fund for the purpose of providing
an ongoing source of funds specifically
designated for the purchase of artwork for the
Civic Art Collection of the City of
Calgary.
This brand new Endowment is the result of the
Foundation's desire to secure a source of ongoing
funds for the collection of work by visual
artists who represent the Calgary region. Held
in trust by The Calgary Foundation, the fund
provides an opportunity for the general public
to contribute to the continued growth of the
Civic Collection and to allow it to reflect
current trends in the City's visual arts
Community.
